the river Tees

 In 2020, Development, Middlesbrough

We want to explore beyond the town centre and with the wind finally dropped, we pedal slowly out through Gresham, the Boho tech space and then inland (west) along the river. There’s a long and boring road beside the enclosed industrial spaces (can we ask audience riders to endure this?)  but the turn through Teesaurus park (image above Mick Garratt) then the river O, is such reward, it’s worth the struggle.  The dinosaurs btw are made from iron and were built by students training in metalwork on a YTS scheme in 1979 and the land this is all on is the old ironmonger works. There’s quite a collection and they were adding another one annually, but the project lost relevance for the city council so its only just  maintained now.
