Sonic Kayaks launch @ British Science Festival
After being back on the water with FoAM Kernow and Dr. Kirsty Kemp in July, we completed in August and launched two Sonic Kayaks on 5th September at The British Science Festival in Swansea SA2 0AY. Hosted and enabled by the expert 360 Watersports centre, it was an inspiring adventure, with all rides sold out to enthusiastic paddling visitors.
The kayaks trail underwater heat sensors which play changing notes as the surface temperature rises and falls. With a carefully mounted stereo system, underwater microphone and samples mapped to different locations, the paddler can utilise an extra dimension of senses with which to explore the underwater world, whilst also gathering important climate/environmental data.
