Nürnberg tunnels

Pause in the tunnels that run alongside the river and you’ll hear extended reverbs and all kinds of resonance. We’ve classified six along the route. These first two, (Tunnel 1) are through the old stone city wall and then a long resonant underpass. They are so close, they make one. The above second part is so long it’s easy to extend or transform any kind of sound in there also bringing the space to life.

Tunnel Two is also in two parts, through the same construction but in reverse, underpass then short city wall, but on south side of river.

Tunnel 3 is a new one, and another underpass.

Tunnel 4 is a doorway out of the city and into open park space

Tunnel 5 is again short through the city wall, but has a huge one sitting down in the trees beside it. So it has an organic bottom, not concrete. With sofa.

Tunnel 6 is the southside sister to Tunnel 3. Modern, under a big new road whose construction locally caused turmoil.
